SXSW Feature CD Review

In all my travels and all the music I listen to, good and bad I have got to say I have NEVER in my life met anyone Like Rick Clark and the guys from Meyvn. I had been speaking with Rick via MySpace way before I knew they would be playing at SXSW. I was so excited that I would get to meet them in Austin and hoped I would get to see them play. Well I didn’t (thanks fire marshal assclowns!!) But I did get a CD and you should feel as LUCKY as I do that you can get one too!!!

So here it is kiddies Guitar rock at it’s finest. Dream Theater Meets Megadeth.

“Revolution” Is strong and fast right off the bat. Rick’s voice reminds me of Geoff Tate in this song. BRAVO BABY! I love this shit. His range is remarkable. Operatic and melodic.

Next is “Cadence”. It opens with some phenomenal guitars and drums. It’s like a war march. Dangerous and treacherous the lyrics seep deep into your souls and rip at your guts. The guitars control this song Throw in magnificent keyboards and you have a hit gift wrapped and waiting for you to open it.

The guitars rip through you like a jigsaw in “One Shot”. This song definitely has a Megadeth touch to the writing behind it. I do love the fact that the vocals can go from a Queensryche sound to an Iron Maiden sound without missing a beat.

“Shine” is a slower song. I really dig this one. It enlightens you to the diversity of the band. Its amazing to me how these intense hardcore guys can just put the brakes on and pull this song off so well, Again I have to call to the front the range in Rick’s voice. It’s just fuckin AMAZING.

“Last Rites” is very theatrical. With a combination of keyboards, electronics and guitars this takes you back to the days of Operation Mind Crime. I hope you guys like Queensryche. I have their Triryche tattooed on my back, I love them and when a band can remind me so much of a MAJOR act that is hard to imitate, you gotta say they are doing something right…right?

Closing out the CD is “Your Rage”. Fast fingers sweep you up into this song with a groovy guitar and up-tempo drum beat. Next to “Shine” I would have to say this is my fav. on this CD. I guess I have elaborated on WHY I dig this band so much. They are versatile and incredible and this song proves it without a doubt. It definitely leaves you wet on the floor and begging for MORE

I can’t begin to express my surprise and pleasure when I sat down and listened to this CD. And I have to say fuckers…get off your cans and get it…
